    On March 7, 2018, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (the “SEC”) issued a Public Statement entitled “Statement on Potentially Unlawful Online Platforms for Trading Digital Assets” (the“Trading Platform Warning”).

    The Statement focuses on online trading platforms used to buy cryptocurrency and tokens that are offered and sold in Initial Coin Offerings (“ICOs”). It also warns investors that some online trading platforms may not be registered with the SEC and that related protections and SEC oversight may not be available.
